Drum Dancers, Iqaluit

Drum dancing is an exiting experience on the various occasions in the north of Canada. Drum beating has signaled the gathering of Inuit and is heard particularly in celebration of special occasions.

The drum dance is still practiced by numerous communities and it attracts the visitors from the other regions of Canada. Singers sit in a circle, while dancers swirl about to the beat of drum. The history tells that drum dancing is not encouraged by religious communities.
