What is the 40000 Canada Emergency Business Account CEBA

The Government of Canada recently announced that it will be providing Canadian Businesses with the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) to support Canadian businesses that have been adversely affected by Coronavirus COVID-19. Eligible businesses will receive a $40,000 line of credit loan for immediate financial support to cover short term operating expenses, payroll and other expenses that not deferred and are critical to sustain business continuity.

Here are some of the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) highlights:

  • It’s a $40,000 government‑guaranteed loan to help eligible businesses pay for operating expenses, payroll and other critical non-deferrable expenses to sustain business continuity.
  • Until December 31, 2020, the Canada Emergency Business Account will be funded as a revolving line of credit for $40,000.
  • After December 31, 2020, any outstanding balance on the revolving $40,000 line of credit will be converted into a non-revolving 5‑year term loan maturing on December 31, 2025, at which time the balance must be paid in full.
  • January 1, 2023 – No interest applies until January 1, 2023.
  • Commencing on January 1, 2023, interest accrues on the balance of the term loan at the rate of 5% per annum, payable monthly on the last day of each month.
  • If you pay 75% of the balance of the term loan (as at January 1, 2021), on or before December 31, 2022, the remaining balance of your term loan will be forgiven. For example, if your balance is $40,000 on January 1, 2021 and you repay $30,000 on or before December 31, 2022, the remaining $10,000 will be forgiven.
  • If you do not repay 75% of the balance of the term loan (as at January 1, 2021) on or before December 31, 2022, the full loan balance and all accrued and unpaid interest will be due and payable on December 31, 2025.

When the Loan be available?

Government of Canada to begin accepting online enrollments the week of April 6, 2020. The date can change.

Please speak to your Bank about further details and the application process.

We’ll also update this post as more information is available.

Nova Scotia COVID-19 Coronavirus Assessment Centres

Anyone who has travelled outside Canada may have come in contact with the novel coronavirus and should closely monitor their health for 14 days after returning to the country.

If you have travelled outside of Canada, you are required to stay at home/self-isolate away from the public.

Nova Scotians who have travelled out of country and who develop a fever with a temperature of 38°C or higher, and/or cough, should use this screening tool to find out if you should call 811 about COVID-19. https://when-to-call-about-covid19.novascotia.ca/en

If there is a need for in-person assessment, 811 will refer to a COVID-19 assessment centre and you will be contacted for an appointment.

Please do not go to a COVID-19 assessment centre without having been referred by 811.

Those directed to an assessment centre by 811 will then have a physical assessment on site and based on that a swab will be taken for patients for whom it is appropriate.
